 The Obituary

On Tuesday Morning, October 10, 2017, Ella Jane Nesbitt was called home to be with the Lord. She was lifted quietly in her sleep from Inman Healthcare, Inman, SC.

Ella Jane Nesbitt was born April 24, 1921 in Asheville, NC. She was the daughter of the late Bessie M. Nesbitt and the late Luther Mitchell.

“Ell” as she was affectionately called accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at Maple Creek Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where she served as member of the Senior Choir, The Missionary Society, The Pastors Aide Society and the Kitchen Committee. She was also the Mother of the Church and the oldest member at the time of her death. A member of South Carolina Cosmetologist Association, she was owner and operator of Nesbitt’s Beauty Shop for 65 years until her retirement at the age of 90.

Miss Ella Jane is survived by a loving and supportive family: one daughter, Dr. Norma Jean Nesbitt Givens of the home; a granddaughter, Mrs. Terri Givens Whetstone of Aiken, South Carolina and her  husband, Darriel; two great granddaughters, Miss Morgan Whetstone and Miss Madison Whetstone of Aiken, South Carolina.  A sister-in-law Mrs. Martha Nesbitt, the wife of Ell’s late brother, Wilbert.  She has served as the matriarch of the family to her nieces and nephews, Mr. Ronald Melchor and his wife, Michelle of Bowie, Maryland; Mrs. Barbara Melchor Lewis and her husband Henry of New Orleans, Louisiana; Mr. Darriel Melchor, of Washington, DC, and Mrs. Margo Melchor wife of the late Mr. Reginald Melchor of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Mrs. Jokeitha Nesbitt Thompson of Simpsonville and Mr. Charles Nesbitt of New York.  All of her nieces and nephews have children and grand children, so Aunt Ella has great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

In heaven she has joined her parents, Bessie M. Nesbitt and Luther Mitchell, her siblings, Della Nesbitt  Melchor, Wilbert Nesbitt and we believe Theodore Nesbitt; her niece Linda Melchor Jackson; nephews  Laymon Nesbitt, David Nesbitt, and Reginald Melchor.
