Doris Mae Norris

Spartanburg, SC:  Ms. Doris Mae Norris, of 195 Norris Drive, answered The Masters Call on Thursday, August 16, 2018 in Summit Hills Skilled Nursing Facility, 110 Summit Hill Dr.  

Born August 3, 1935 in Knoxville, TN, Doris was a daughter of the late William Carey and Nannie Jones Norris.

Early in life she relocated to Spartanburg, SC and joined the Travelers Rest Baptist Church where she was a former member of the Senior Choir and The Silver Strand Senior Group. She retired from Leigh Fibers where she worked as a machine operator.

Surviving are:  a daughter, Darlene Norris of the home; a sister, Mrs. Jimmie Norris Jones of Spartanburg, SC; nieces, Maleika Norris and Sharon Lewis of Spartanburg, SC, Nicole Lewis of Jersey City, NJ; nephews, Tracy Norris of Syracuse, NY and Arthur Lewis of NY; cousins raised in the home, Arrie Fowler, Lillie Pearl Gibson, Ruby Lillie, Mae Frances Baxter, Nora Mae Anderson, George Edward Lillie and Elizabeth Farr, all of Spartanburg, SC, Carol and Janet Young of Knoxville, TN; a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation Services will be held 5:30 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Wright, Officiating. Burial will follow in The Norris Family Cemetery, 195 Norris Drive, Spartanburg, SC with the Gilmore Mortuary Morticians in Charge.
