Angela Renee Decosta

Angela Renee DeCosta was born on June 8, 1957, in Washington, DC to Maggie Monroe and James DeCosta. She peacefully transitioned on May 29, 2021.

Angela attended Washington, DC public schools and graduated from Frank W. Ballou High School in Washington, DC in June 1975. During her senior year in high school, she completed an internship at the US Department of Treasury and was hired full time shortly after her graduation. She remained at the US Department of Treasury until she relocated her family to Greer, SC in 1990. In Greer, SC she worked at the Carpet House until it closed. She later joined the staff at Burger King and was a shift manager until she retired in early 2012.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Ross.

Angela loved laughing and cracking jokes. A kind and loving friend and neighbor, she will be greatly missed in the home and in the community.

She leaves to cherish loving memory: her mother, Maggie Monroe of Greer, SC; a daughter, Shantay Duncan of Greenbelt, MD; a son, DeVonte Terry of Greer, SC; a sister, Robin Monroe of Greer, SC; brothers Juan DeCosta of Washington, DC, and David Ross (Patricia) of Upper Marlboro, MD; 4 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Viewing will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 5, 2021 followed by funeral services at 12:00 PM in The Gilmore Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Gerald Williams, officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
