Arthur Willie Freeman II was fascinated by airplanes and the army from an early age . His influence was his great aunt Bessie Coleman and father, Tuskegee Airman, Arthur Freeman Sr .
Born in Flint, Michigan he was a son of the late Gustavia Clemons and Arthur Willie Freeman, Sr.
Educated in the public schools of Los Angeles, California, he was a 1962 graduate of George Washington High School.
Arthur joined the army and served for twenty years in the United States and abroad in Germany. He worked as a Missle Launcher. He fought wildfires during a period of drought out west.
After retiring from the U S Army, he was united in holy matrimony to his sweetheart Hildred Jewell Thompson and settled in Inman, South Carolina. He served as the family representative for his great aunt, Bessie Coleman who was an aviatrix.
Arthur had two brothers, Kevin D Freeman of Los Vegas and Kirk Freeman of California.
Arthur was an independent AMSOIL dealer. He was a photographer and loved jazz and dancing. He was an audiophile collecting tube amplifiers and networking all over the world.
Also surviving are: his children, Artina (Tony) Jackson of Florida , Crystal (Leonard) Sparks of Flint, MI, Gustavia Birts of Germany, George Robert Freeman and Kevin Arthur Freeman of Flint, MI and Reginald Thompson of Inman SC; brothers Kevin D Freeman of Los Vegas, NV and Kirk Freeman Of California; nine grandchildren: Jahden Freeman, Tony Jackson, Devon Jackson, Alexis Howard and Veronica Jones of Los Vegas, NV, Trey Howard of Flint, MI, Cedric Herbert, Kanzadie Herbert of South Carolina;3 great grandchildren: Brie, Ace , NeLani.
Viewing will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 in the Fred Singleton Slumber Room of The Gilmore Mortuary.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 14, 2021 in Upper Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery,
