Azalee Foster Watson went from earth to glory early on Sunday August 21st 2022. She received her healing after fighting illnesses over the years. She was born in Spartanburg on January 21st 1928 to the late Deacon William D. Foster and Irene Penson Foster. She was the wife of the late Preston James Dodd Watson. She attended and graduated from the old Piney Grove school which was a one room school house in Spartanburg County School District 5.
She received salvation at an early age and was a member of the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She also fellowshipped with the New Jerusalem church family
She was a former employee of Rilla Ren School and also provided in home child care over the years to many children. She was known for being the best cook, providing large Sunday meals to family and friends alike.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sons, Larry Watson, James Watson, Tommy Watson, and 12 siblings: Issac, Jacob, Joseph and Esau Foster, Lorrain Ballenger, Corrine Dodd, Louisiana, Floree Smith, Marie Foster Glenn, Mildred Oliver, Earline Foster, Lula Mae Ferguson,
She leaves to cherish fond memories, four daughters, Mary E. Collins of Greenville, South Carolina, Sally A. Watson of Greer, SC, Sarah A. Watson of Greer, SC, Patricia Watson Lane of Wellford, SC; Four sons, Earl Watson, Roy Watson, Pastor Steve D. Watson (Wanda), and Richard Watson (Patricia), all of Greer, SC. One sister, Hilda Foster Gregory of Greer, SC
Six Sisters-In-Law, Clara Foster, Rev. Marcella Murray, Rev. Mary Murray, Bobbie Hunter, Martha Talley, Jeanette Watson one Brother-In Law, Deacon Paul Watson, 39 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and an army of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
