Darlene Norris, 55, of 1236 Nazareth Road formerly of 195 Norris Drive, died Thursday, December, 15, 2022 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Native of Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late George Haley and the late Doris Norris.
“Dolly" or "D” as she was affectionately called by family and friends was educated in the public schools of Spartanburg County and was a graduate of James F. Byrnes High School class of 1985. She continued her education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from South Carolina State College in 1989 where she joined the Delta Sigma Theta sorority.
She was a member of Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the following committees: the Kitchen, Safety, Pastors Aid, and the By-Law committees.
At the time of her death, she was a Claims Specialist for Sitel Group Insurance Company in Spartanburg, SC.
Darlene was a peoples person: She loved shopping, eating out at restaurants with friends, and cheering on her Byrnes High School Rebels and her Carolina Panthers football teams.
Surviving are: her aunt, Jimmie Jones of the home; her niece, Maleika Norris; her cousins, Tracy Norris, Nicole, Arthur and Jermaine Lewis; a host of other relatives and many friends.
Viewing will be held from 1:00 until 6:00 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in the Fred Singleton Slumber Room of The Gilmore Mortuary.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 21, 2022 in The Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church with the Pastor, Rev. Leon Wright, officiating. Burial will follow in the Norris Family Cemetery.
