Darrell Lyrone Bennett

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).

After a tremendous fight, the Lord called Mr. Darrell Lyrone Bennett to eternal rest in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 6, 2020. The youngest of four sons to the late Lemuel and Nannie Mae Bennett, Darrell was born in Greenville County on September 3, 1959. He was raised in a hard-working and God-fearing home, and joined Enoree Fork Baptist church at an early age. Upon graduation from Riverside High School, he served in the United States Marine Corps.

Darrell was a down-to-earth, fun-loving, and charismatic person. He loved to cook and always had a smile on his face! At The Pasta Addict, he was the best friend and “right-hand man” to owner Anthony Pepe, and also worked to perfection at Jianna Italian Restaurant. Additionally, Darrell served as a Standardized Patient at the USC School of Medicine within Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. Here, he lit up the room as he helped to train countless medical students, nursing students, nurse practitioner students, and hospital faculty.

His memory will be forever cherished by his daughter, Natasha Yvette Greer (Jamie), of Simpsonville; three grandchildren, Tyte Annia “Bre” Greer, Jhamual Greer, and Jayla Greer, all of Simpsonville; one great-grand-daughter Kariel Thompson; two brothers, Jerry Bennett of Greer and Lee Bennett of Taylors. He was predeceased by his eldest brother James “Jimmy” (Carol Ann) Bennett, Sr., and his wife LaVern Thompson Bennett. Additionally, he will be greatly missed by a special friend Debbie Logston, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
