Garvin Alexander Mills Jr.

Late Thursday Evening, February 15, 2024, just before the beginning of a new day, the Lord in his great wisdom dispatched an angel to Prisma Health Greer Memorial Hospital to quietly escort Mr. Garvin Alexander Mills Jr. of 104  Mills Avenue out of this life to relocate to his new heavenly home, not made by hands.

Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Garvin Alexander and Estella Ballenger Mills, Sr. a widow of Alma Parks Mills, a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, a former mail clerk for J P Stevens Victor Plant, a veteran of the US Army and a member of Eureka Masonic Lodge #59 in Greer, SC.    

 He was the last survivor of his immediate family.   

Surviving are: 2 sons, Larry (Classie) Mills of Miami Gardens, FL and Clarence (Jeanette) Mills of Ocoee, FL; 3 daughters, Gloria L (Garfield) Battle of Mount Rainier, MD,  Alma J. Mills of Columbia and Lydia M. Lomax, Greer, SC; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Viewing will be from 1:00 until 5:00 PM Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in the Fred Singleton Slumber Room of The Gilmore Mortuary.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, February 22, 2024 in Bethel United Methodist Church, 105 E. Arlington Avenue, Greer, SC 29651

Burial with Masonic and Military Honors will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
