Hazel Lee Cooper Rice 91 of 101 Elm St. was called from labor to reward on Friday, July 18, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.
Native of Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Prudence Elvira Cooper.
She was a student at the former Dunbar School in Greer, a member of Maple Creek Missionary Baptist Church, former accountant for Southern Bank and Trust in Greenville, SC, a member of Piedmont Temple #746 Benjamin Banneker Elks, Sassy Ladies Lunch Crew, the Saint Matthew Quilting Guild and a member of Chapter 180 Order Of The Eastern Star.
Surviving are: her daughter Ettie Pearl (Jesse) Booker of the home; two granddaughters raised in the home, Rev. Laratifter Denise Benson and Shanoah Samecious Benson, both of Spartanburg; two great-grandchildren, Samuel Dre’Quan Benson and Deborah Keilana Benson both of Spartanburg; three step-children, Edward Earl (Margo) Rice of Albany, NY; Rosalind Allen and Eddie Allen, both of Greenville; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be from 1:00 until 5:00 pm on Friday, July 25, 2025 Fred Singleton Slumber Room of The Gilmore Mortuary.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday July 26, 2025 in Maple Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Denise Benson officiating.
Entombment will follow at 11:00 AM Monday in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC.
