Taylors: Mr. James Lear Gist 93, of 220 Elm Street, died Tuesday January 13, 2015  at his home.

Native of Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Silas Gist Sr. and the late Cornelia Rice Gist, the widow of Thomasena Smith Gist and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Greer, SC.

Surviving are : sons, David Grayson of Duncan, SC, Waymond Gist of Greenville, SC and James Edward Gist of the home; a daughter, Carolyn Wood of Greer, SC; brothers, Silas Gist Jr. of Taylors, SC, Otis Gist of Greer, SC and Henry Gist of Newburgh, NY; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services were held 1:00 PM Sunday, January 18, 2015 in the chapel of The Gilmore Mortuary with Rev. Janie Gist, Officiating.  Burial followed in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
