Marshall Leslie King

Marshall “Les” Leslie King 64, was born October 13, 1958, from the union of the late Marshall “Mott” King and Mildred King in Greer, SC. The second of their four children and only son. He departed his earthly life on March 1, 2023.

Les attended Greenville County Schools and later found employment working alongside his father and uncles in construction and landscaping. Les enjoyed watching ID TV, fishing, sports, eating good food and simply aggravating his family and friends with his charm and witty personality. He was a very gentle, patient, and kind man whose love for life was exhibited through conversations everywhere he went. He talked to any and everybody on his journey and loved to make people laugh.

Les’s love for others and precious memories will forever be cherished by his devoted mother, Mildred King; his daughters; Leslie K. Bruton of the home and Nequita   (Mychal) Cannon of Reidville, SC, Courtney Theodate of Chicago, Illnois; one son, Lazarus Drummond of Greenville, SC. three sisters, Sherian (Oliver) Smith of Greer, SC. Dorothy Holmes and Chiquita King of Greer, SC; three grandsons, Nathan and Kevie Theodate and Aaden Bruton-Smith (whom he absolutely adored) of the home; a long-life friend, Connie Drummond and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Viewing will be from 1:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday at The Gilmore Mortuary.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, March 6. 2023 at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church Greer, SC.

I have left my heart with you

So, don’t you cry.
