Mary Lillian (Townes) Brown

Greenville, SC: Mary Lillian Brown of 151 Century Drive was granted her wings on May 18, 2026 in Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Native of Warrenton, NC she was a daughter of the late James Otis and Dora Mae Townes, a retired house keeper and a former member of Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Newark, NJ

Mary met and married the love of her life, the late John Luis Brown in 1967 and to this union two kids were born.

She loved cooking for her church and other special occasions.

His Children Dewayne and Keith Darnell Brown preceded him in death.

Survivors include: 2 sisters, Vivian Bah of Greenville, SC and Dorothy Pitchford of North Carolina; brothers, Esso Townes of Greenville, SC and Donald Townes of Newark, NJ.

Her remains will be transported to Newark, NJ for Services in Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with burial beside her husband in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery
