Michael Leroy Henson

Greer, SC: Michael Leroy Henson was born on November 6, 1962 in Allen-Bennett Memorial Hospital, Greer, SC.

He was a son of the late Leroy Henson and Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Robinson Henson of 1250 Valentine Lane, Greer, SC.

Michael attended the public schools of Spartanburg County, SC and was a graduate of the James F. Byrnes High School class of 1981. A former employee of Victor Mill, he was a member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Some of the loves of his life was The Clemson and Dallas Cowboy Football Teams, watching Nascar Racing and making model cars. He loved his family and often helped his mother babysit  all of his nieces and  nephew whom he truly loved. Over the years he accumulated many friends. To know him was to love him. He will be greatly missed in the home and the community. 

On Thursday, Januray 31, 2019, the Lord in his great wisdom dispatched an Angel to Spartanburg Regional Hospice House to  escort Michael from his earthly home to his heavenly home, not built by hands.

Also surviving are: a brother, Kenneth Barnard Henson of the home; sisters, Mrs. Sharon H. (Rev. Michael) Durrah and Ms. Sherry Owens of Lyman, SC, Mrs. Annette (Larry) Drummond of Spartanburg, SC, Mrs. Valerie (Maurice) Bobo of Greer, SC, Mrs. Juanita (Lee) Canada of Simpsonville, SC and Mrs. Cynthia “Cookie” Pickens of Spartanburg, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  

Funeral  Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Lyman, SC  with the pastor, Rev. Randolph Hawkins, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
