Mildred (Todd) Jones

Mrs. Mildred Todd 82, was born in Brooklyn NY on December 18, 1939, a daughter of the late Jack and Katherine Cunningham Todd.

She received her formal education in the school system of Spartanburg County, SC.

She was a member of Lower Shady Grove Baptist Church in Woodruff and she also attended Switzer Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Woodruff, SC.

Mildred was employed as a machine operator for Hoechst Fiber Company in Spartanburg.

On July 2, 1982, she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. John Jones in Spartanburg, SC. They almost were married for 40 years but for a few days.  

One of the greatest mothers, wives, grandmother’s and friends, she loved fishing, traveling, cooking and sharing time with family.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Sarah Todd Williams, James, Otto and Bobby Todd and a grandson, reared in the home, Buddy V. Cross Jr.

Surviving are: her husband, John Jones of the home; sons, Willie (Porshia) Cross of Taylors, SC, Russell (Mattie) Cross, Lee and Jeffrey Todd, all of Greer, SC: a daughter, Joyce Cross of Greer, SC, 2 step-daughters, Vermal and Angie Carson, both of Spartanburg; a sister, Dorothy Todd Long of Moore, SC; 13 grandchildren including Clarissa Cross who was reared in the home; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; a host of  nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Viewing will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 1:00 until 6:00 PM in the Fred Singleton Slumber Room of The Gilmore Mortuary.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 9, 2022 in Lower Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest Pickett, Officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
