Otis Jones

Rev. Otis Jones 81, of 942 Mary Grace Lane, husband of Angela Anderson-Jones of the home entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 28, 2024 at his residence

Native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Luther and Sammie Lou Berry Jones, a member of Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, a graduate of Florence Chapel High School, and a former Pastor of New Liberty Baptist Church in Fountain Inn, SC.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hattie Fowler-Jones,  2 sons, Roy Alexander Young and Olin Pernell Jones; siblings, Ruben and Leroy Jones, Willie Mae Jones-Perry and Effie C. Jones-Gist;

Surviving are: a son, Charles Reid Jr. (Laticia Bryant) of Duncan, SC; daughters, Dayotra Jones-Peake (Rev. Jimmie Peake of Spartanburg, SC and Teauna Reid of the home; brothers, Rev. Dr. Samuel (Bridie) Jones of Spartanburg, SC and Rev. William (Sallie) Jones of Startex, SC; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister-in law’s, Abigail Anderson of Greenville, SC, Minister Sandra McDowell of Spartanburg, SC and Charlene Peake of Duncan, SC; brother-in-law’s, Tommy Anderson and Harold ( Anita) Anderson both of Easley, SC, Rev. Michael McDowell of Spartanburg, SC; a devoted uncle in law, James Terry of Greer, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Viewing will be from 1:00 until 5:00 PM in the Fred Singleton Slumber Room of The Gilmore Mortuary.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2024 in Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy J. Brown Sr, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
