Rayfus Cunningham SR, 72, of 114 Vermillian Drive, was called from labor to reward on Thursday, February 23, 2023 in his residence.
Native of Union County he was a son of the late James Walter and Pauline Elizabeth Peake Cunningham.
“Dib” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends was educated in the public schools of Union County, SC. A veteran of the US Army, he was a self-employed auto mechanic and a former truck driver.
He loved watching football on television and always rooting for the Oakland Raiders.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Pearl Smith Cunningham and two siblings, Pamela Evans and Sandra Eison.
Surviving are: sons, Rayfus Jr., Videl, Nicky and James Cunningham II; daughters, Schenita Cunningham of the home, Tracie (Derrick) Rogers of Fayetteville, GA, Paulita Cunningham of Concord, NC, Selese (Keith) Thomas and Sierra Cunningham of Charlotte, NC and Raqucal Conningham of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Greg Evans Sr. of Cincinnati, OH; 24 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Viewing will be for 1:00 until 6:00 PM Friday in The Fred Singleton Slumber Room of The Gilmore Mortuary.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday in St. Luke Baptist Church in Buffalo, SC with Rev. Jimmie Peake and Rev. Ricky Peake, officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
