Sammy Benny Smith

Mr. Sammy Benny Smith of 17 Blacktop Road, Taylors, SC answered the Masters call on Thursday, May 26, 2022 in Manna Rehabilitation and Health Center

Son of the late Will Alonzo and Leila Victoria Levingston Smith, he was a former machine operator for J P Stevens and a former custodian for Shriners Hospital in Greenville, SC.  

Sammy enjoyed riding his favorite horse Blackjack, riding his motorcycle, fishing, gardening and engaging in arts and crafts. His favorite football team was the Pittsburg Steelers and he loved to listen to Hank Williams Jr. sing Country Boy can survive and BB King singing the blues.

Surviving are: sons, Sammy Smith and Toriano Hellams of Taylors, SC, Calvin (Falicia) Woodruff of Simpsonville, SC, Alvin Foster of Greer, SC; daughters, Tammie Burris of Greenville, SC, Sandra Woodruff of Travelers Rest, SC, Anglia (Raymond) Bivings of Taylors, SC; a brother, Jeremiah Smith of Taylors, SC; sisters, Willie Mae Walker, Ruth Ann Foster and Minnie M. Evans, all of Taylors, SC; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; a host of  nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 2:30 PM in the chapel of The Gilmore Mortuary.

Repass for the family and friends will follow the services at the Greer Golf Courses, 2299 Gap Creek Road, Greer, SC, 29651.
