Sharon Teresa Wilkins Evans of 3980 Bethania Lot Drive, Apt.101, died Tuesday, August 25, 2020 in Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC.
Native of Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of Catherine Wilkins Thomas of Wellford and the late Charleston Thomas.
On August 19, 1992 she was united in holy matrimony to Broadus Sullivan Evans, III. She was an employee of Wells Fargo in Winston-Salem, NC and a member of New Jerusalem West Full Gospel Church.
Sharon was a playwriter and was the copyright owner of plays such as "What Now Lord", "Not My Child" and "All I want for Christmas". She was also a recording Artist that had many gospel songs such as Getting Better. Her father, the late Charleston Thomas was one of the lead singers with Maurice Williams and The Zodiacs. They recorded mostly beach music. Some of their hits were: Stay, May I, Please, Always and Do I.
She was predeceased by her father-in-law, Broadus Evans Jr.
Also surviving are: her brother, Ivan (Mary Ann) Thomas and a sister, Annette (Kevin) Fernanders both of Wellford, SC; her mother-in-law, Alice Evans and her sister-in-law, Alma Baron (Walter) all of Tampa, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Viewing will be Friday, September 4, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM in The Gilmore Mortuary.
Graveside services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, September 5, 2020 in Highland Cemetery with Rev. Derwin Montgomery and Pastor Eric Pryor, officiating. Interment will follow the services.
