Shonyel Tara Rowan 49, wife of Anthony Carlton of Bent Oaks Apartments entered into eternal life on Thursday night, July 22, 2021 at 10:27 pm.
A native of Bayonne NJ, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Dolores Kee Rowan.
Educated in the Public Schools of Hudson County, NJ, she was the youngest of 14 siblings. After graduating she moved to Philadelphia, PA where she met her husband. They later moved to Greer, SC where she was joined in holy matrimony to Anthony Carlton.
“Shonna” as she was affectionately called, was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Taylors, SC. Some of her hobbies were cooking and cheering the Dallas Cowboys to victory. No one could tell her nothing about her nieces, nephews or her blessed through union, grandchildren. She also loved to help and care for others. She was always donating to those less fortunate through her time and talents. She had been a private nanny and caregiver over the years. She was a huge fan of Mary J. Blige.
Preceded in death by her brother Jerome Rowan, her sister Felecia Glover, her sister Yvette Rowan, her nephew Tarrance Glover and her brother in law Tony Fitz.
Left to cherish loving memories are: her siblings, Phylis Rowan Fitz of Fairfield OH, Harold Rowan Jr. (JoAnn) of Louisville, Ky, Michael Rowan of Port St. Lucie, FL, Brian Rowan (Diane) of Louisville, KY, Jeanette Rowan of Pooler, GA, Daryl Rowan of Highland Falls, NY, Rene Rowan of Bradenton, FL, Kevin Rowan of Hollywood, FL, Kenneth Rowan of Bayonne, NJ, Joy Rowan of Bayonne, NJ, Charlie Glover (brother in law) of Bayonne, NJ and Rochelle Rowan (sister in law) of Bradenton, FL. A host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren along with the Burton/Carlton families.
Viewing will be held 11:30 am to 12:30 pm July 31, 2021 followed by funeral services at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The Gilmore Mortuary.
