Viola Pullum Barton, 101, of 10 Riverside Drive, widow of Boyce Barton, was called from labor to reward on Friday, October 16, 2020 in Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Native of Greenville County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Moss and Eva Barton Pullum, a former employee of Piedmont Industries and a member of Aiken Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Taylors where she was the oldest member and served as “The Mother Of The Church.”
“Mama Vi”, as she was affectionately called was a lover of good healthy cooking in which she excelled in doing, and enjoying her time with family.
She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Dorothy Ann Gash.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Betty Kearse of Taylors; 9 grand children,
Debra Nance, Kenneth (Linda) Durham, Linda (Julius) Mitchell, Letitia (LaMeek)
Makins, Sherica Kearse, Stanley (Colisa) Kearse, Violet (James) Davis, Nakia Smith,
Travis Smith; 20 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives
and many friends.
Viewing will be Monday, October 19, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the Fred Singleton Slumber Room of The Gilmore Mortuary.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 20, 2020 in Aiken Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Vincent Anderson and Rev. Dr. W.O. Harrison, Sr. officiating .
