Greer, SC: On a very beautiful day, Friday, April 7, 2017 at the precise time of 3:07 PM, with her family at her bedside, The Lord in his great wisdom dispatched an Angel quietly to escort Alma Parks Mills 91, of 104 Mills Avenue out of this life to relocate to her new Heavenly Home.
Born in Lincoln County GA, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Alberta Jones Parks, a former house keeper for The Charles Runion Family, a former Substitute Teacher for Greenville County Schools, former secretary for Greentown Sympathy Club, a member of Moore’s Chapter # 180, Order Of The Eastern Star, a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she served as past president of The United Methodist Women, a former Sunday School Teacher and past Vacation Bible School Teacher.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Eunice Parks, Alice Ramey, Christine Lacey, Shelton T. “ST” Parks, George “Sonny” Parks, Joe Melvin Parks and Johnny Parks.
She is survived by: her husband, Mr. Garvin Mills of the home; sons, Rev Larry (Classie) Mills of Miami Gardens, FL and Clarence (Jeanette) Mills of Ocoee, FL; daughters, Gloria (Garfield) Battle of Mt. Rainier, MD, Alma J. Mills of Columbia, SC and Lydia M. Lomax of Greer: a brother, Carnell Parks of Piedmont, SC; sisters, Rita Pritchard of Avondale AZ and Bobbie (Willie) Lyons of Piedmont, SC; sister in law, Helen Drummond of Greer; brother in law, Samuel Mills of Long Branch, NJ; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday Evening from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at The Gilmore Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in the Sanctuary of Bethel United Methodist Church with Pastor Deborah Patterson, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Her remains will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM to lie in state until the hour of services.
